Karl Melton represents District 3 on the Alamogordo City Commission. Karl is a public policy professional, author, and pro-business advocate in Alamogordo. He is also the owner of Conservative Compliance, a consulting firm offering political compliance services.
Karl spent ten years in Washington D.C. before moving to beautiful Alamogordo. During that time, he worked for the nation’s leading conservative advocacy organizations, including the Club for Growth and the Heritage Foundation, advocating for the causes of limited government and freedom being returned to the people.
He earned a master’s in public administration from Liberty University in 2021, graduating with high distinction. In 2015, he graduated from American University with a bachelor’s in political science.
Before joining the City Commission, Karl served on the Advisory Board for the Alamogordo Public Library. He has a lifelong passion for reading and encouraging childhood literacy. In his free time, Karl writes suspense and horror fiction for both kids and adults. His stories, which often take place in New Mexico, have been featured in various audio and print publications.
When not working or writing, Karl loves hiking the many trails our community has to offer and enjoying delicious New Mexico red chile.
