Five Members:
No more than two members may reside outside City limits, with the stipulation that these two members must own or be an employee of a tourist-related business located within the City limits.
The Promotion Board makes recommendations to staff and City Commission as to the tourism promotion of the City of Alamogordo to visitors outside of a 50-mile radius of the city. One measure of advertising success is the increase of Lodger’s Tax received, FY18 saw an increase in the Lodger’s Tax revenue of over 10%. Lodger’s Tax has been on the rise since 2014 with an average increase of 6.5%. The budget for FY20 is $247,687, this may increase if we see that the revenue for the Lodger’s Tax is higher than estimated, the estimate was based on past performance and current trends.
