Meals, Food, Shopping & Housing Resources


The Alamo Senior Center is offering a meal pick-up plan for all the seniors in the Alamogordo area, the age of 60 and above.  The suggested donation is $2.50.
Meal pick-up is Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm in front of the Alamo Senior Center which is located on Puerto Rico Ave.
Seniors must be registered with the Alamo Senior Center in order to receive the meals, however, non-members have the option to sign-up at the moment of their pickup. 

Grocery shopping is also available for registered seniors.

The following stores are offering special shopping hours for Seniors or individuals with compromised immune systems.  

  • Albertsons Market -  Mondays & Thursdays open until 9 am
  • Dollar General - the first hour of each day.
  • Lowe’s Market - Pay n Save Senior-only hours are 7 to 8am each day.
  • Walgreens - Tuesdays are considered "Senior Day" with all-day discounts and seniors-only shopping from 8 to 9am.
  • Walmart - Tuesdays only, open one hour early for seniors over 60 and older.

MFA's COVID-19 Housing Cost Assistance Program can help pay your past-due housing payments if you are experiencing financial hardship because of COVID-19. This page contains all of the information you need to determine if you qualify for assistance and includes instructions on how to apply for the program.

Applications will be accepted from 8 a.m. November 2 through 5 p.m. November 13 ONLY. However, it is a good idea to start gathering the required supporting documentation as soon as possible in order to be ready to apply when the application window opens on November 2.
