Convenience Center Rules & Regulations
Beginning July 1, 2016, Resolution 2016-10 was adopted by the City Commission of the City of Alamogordo on June 26, 2016 establishingg a new fee structure for the Convenience Center went into effect.
Services Provided
This is a solid waste transfer station that accepts:
- Anti-Freeze
- Furniture
- Household Appliances
- Household Garbage
- Scrap Metal
- Used Motor Oil
- Yard Waste
The facility serves City residents and small construction contractors.
Materials
Customers are required to bring their materials to the facility. Mulch is free to the public. We also accept commercial waste.
No liquids, hazardous waste, or animal remains are accepted at the center.
Acceptable Items
The following items are accepted at the Lavelle Road location:
- Appliances
- Cell Phones and Batteries
- Electronics / Ink Cartridges
- Motor Oil / Antifreeze
- Rechargeable Tool Batteries
- Scrap Metal
- Vehicle Batteries
- Paint (The Convenience Center does not accept paint in liquid form. Paint can must have the lid off, paint must be mixed with dirt/cat litter and dry, to be accepted.)
High Winds
Please note on days with high winds, we may have to close the convenience center to ensure the safety of staff and visitors. We will close for safety on days when winds are at least 30 mph and sustained.
