The Alamogordo Parks & Recreation Department is proud to recognize the outstanding contributions of our Adopt-A-Spot program participants!  Every year, dedicated volunteers from our community play a vital role in keeping Alamogordo beautiful by cleaning and maintaining public spaces.

This page celebrates the achievements of our Adopt-A-Spot participants through our annual awards program. We recognize individuals, families, and groups who go above and beyond in their commitment to environmental stewardship and community pride.

Award Categories:

• Effort & Consistency:

  • Most Cleaned Spot: Awarded to the participant(s) who demonstrate exceptional dedication to keeping their adopted spot clean throughout the year.
  • Most Improved Spot: This award acknowledges the biggest transformation of an adopted spot.
  • Most Consistent Participation: Awarded to the participant(s) who consistently cleaned their spot throughout the year.
  • Going the Extra Mile Award: Awarded to the participant(s) who go above and beyond their designated cleaning duties, like planting flowers or organizing community clean-up events.

• Innovation & Creativity:

  • Most Creative Beautification Project:  Awarded to the participant(s) who use creative methods to beautify their adopted spot while maintaining cleanliness.
  • Best Educational Outreach: Awarded to the participant(s) who raise awareness about the program or environmental issues through their involvement.

• Community Building:

  • Most Engaged Community Group: This award acknowledges the group that fosters the most community involvement in their adopted spot clean-up efforts.
  • Youth Leadership Award: This award recognizes a young person or group who demonstrates exceptional leadership within the program.

Selection Process:

Winners are chosen based on a variety of criteria, including:

• Consistency of clean-up efforts
• Overall improvement of the adopted spot
• Innovation and creativity in beautification projects
• Community engagement and outreach
